The utility of public classes can be explained as the effect that is gained from the form of the teaching and research based on the public class teaching , which includes designed utility and practical utility. Designed utility refers to the utility that public classes expect to achieve in the teaching process ,that is to say ,designed utility is the goal and the value pursue of public classes. Practical utility refers to the practical utility that public classes achieve in the teaching process, which reflects the real effect of public class. There must be disparities between designed utility and practical utility. Finding how to reduce the disparities is the responsibility of educational operators and the duty of teaching researchers.Studying the promoting strategies of the utility of public class in school is to meet the need of theory and practice. In theory, the study of the utility of public classes is not enough and far away from systematization at home, mainly focusing on the introduction of theory. A lot of natures remain to be verified through phenomena. In reality, during the 50 years' development of public class, its essential teaching and research value are gradually weakening while the external utility value is growing. Considering correlative researches, the research on how to combine the power of school administrators, colleagues as well as other stakeholders to promote the effect of public class is still weak. There are fewer studies on how to make public classes more effective , so it' s necessary to make a deep research on the utility of public classes.Giving full play to designed utility of public classes is the topic concerned by school administrators. From analyzing the relative theory on school administration ,it can be found that public classes play an objective effect from the aspects of school' s development,teachers' improving,teaching quality and students' growth. From the aspect of school administration , public classes mold the school' s band. From the aspect of teachers' improving, public classes provide a platform for teacher' s development. From the aspect of teaching quality, public classes work as the "catalyst" promoting the quality of teaching. From the aspect of students' growth, public classes serve as the effective carrier upgrading the students' development.The research reveals practical utility through massive public class activities carried out in the GY middle school and by analyzing samples, making questionnaire, interviewing and so on. The investigated conclusion is that practical utilities have two types, including positive utility and negative utility. Positive utility shows in the following ways. Public class activities indeed promote the reform for school's educational practice, enhance teachers' quality and arouse students' interest and academic motivation. However there are negative utilities. Master hands cultured in the school are mainly young teachers. The school organizes the commentary lacking effectiveness. Teachers prepare one public class in a false form and teachers are short in strain capacity and teaching tact. Teachers and students fail in comprehensive communication and student's main body status and emotional activities are neglected.There are disparities between designed utility and practical utility for some reasons. The school administrators neglect designed utility of public classes and systems are not practical in organizing the process of public classes. Besides, measures and evaluation criteria are not effective. Speaking of teachers, they hinder to some extent because they are not willing to renew educational ideas and they can not understand new curricular ideas accurately. Moreover, their own specialized accomplishment and moral accomplishment are not very high. Meanwhile students think they can not learn more in public classes and that they attend public classes just for helping their teachers to make a so-called perfect class, which also affects giving play to designed utility of public classes fully.In order to promote designed utility of public classes, school managers should attach importance to public classes, alter the attitude towards public classes, standardize the mode of public classes, unite public class with regular class without the utilitarianism. It's better for the headmasters to attend public classes himself. School managers also should reform the organization and appraisal system of public classes to make the system workable, adopt effective measures and build good teaching and research atmosphere for teachers. To exert the function of public classes that accelerate the professional development of teachers, teachers should renew the educational ideas ,treat public classes justly, enhance their own accomplishment .They should also think back to public classes by communicating with others and recognizing that the public class is necessary. Students should alter their ways of looking at public classes, manifest their status of main body fully in public classes and obtain the substantial cognitive harvests, thus promoting the public class.
