The physical morphology status and characters of the high jump reserve talents are closely related to the fostering of the high jump reserve talents and the sustainability of the high jump. The physical morphology of the high jumper is an important reference basis for training. The role of physical morphology status and characters should not be underestimated, which is a predictor of maximal exercise capacity for human, especially in the primary talent selection of high jump athletes. This research took the young athletes (12-13years) as the research subjects from the high jump training base of Shanghai. It employed the method of literature study, expert interview, questionnaire and mathematical statistics and so on, then chose some indexes to study which are closely related to the selection and evaluation of high jump reserve talents on the base of the previous research. It is target to remedy the deficient of physical morphology study for the talents selection and evaluation of high jump reserve talents.First of all, this research took the method of literature study to select 32 indexes such as Stature, Body Weight,Quetelet index, Sitting Height, Length of Lower limbs(H,A,B,C), Length of Achilles'tendon, Waist of Circumference,LBW,etc. Secondly, 12 indexes were filtered out form 32 indexes by questionnaire and expert interview, which be used in experimental testing of athletes. Finally, this research made a Factor Analysis of 12 physical morphology indexes, and it built up the physical morphology model and evaluation criteria. Furthermore, the research gave some suggestions for physical morphology selection of high jump reserves talents in Shanghai.
