Multimedia combines text, graphics, images, video and sound into an indispensable stage of teaching expression which named multi-media teaching. It also refers to information technology and classroom integration.The aim of the article is to research the practical significance of multimedia teaching in junior high school's Life and Science teaching, and find out if it is the best way to present the class, trying to develop the multi-media teaching method to ensure the effectiveness of class.This paper describes the research of multimedia teaching at home and broad. It also presents the investigation of the attitude and application of multimedia among the students and teachers in Pudong New Area. For the thesis writing work, the methods of literature study, experimental practice, comparative analysis, educational investigation are widely used .In practice, two Grade Eight parallel classes were taught in the two different ways—traditional teaching and multimedia teaching.Through a two-month comparison of the two classes, eight test results the statistical data analysis applications. The conclusion is that there is no significant difference in learning outcomes for the sake of using multimedia and non-using multimedia. Other teaching methods can not be completely replaced by multimedia teaching. They should coexist.The significance of this research paper is : multimedia teaching method promotes the development of both teachers'teaching and students learning. The using of IT changes the boring visual style of traditional class and makes it more vivid. It also enriches the contents of class by increasing the amount of information in limited class time. Meanwhile, the using of multimedia helps students understand some abstract problems more clearly. However, different teaching contents should choose different teaching methods in order to ensure the class effectiveness, which may be weakened if multimedia is not used properly. The basic idea of Shanghai school curriculum is student-centered development, adhere to the comprehensive development of all students and concerning about the health of students in personality development and sustainable development. Therefore, the use of multi-media teaching should be based on the needs of students as the most important (truly student-concerned), so as to achieve the goal of integrating multimedia and class as well as ensure the class efficiency.
