In the history of mankind, whenever there is new information technology, such as projectors, slides, film, recordings, radio, television, etc., people have managed to be applied to the teaching and expect to be able to change the traditional teaching model, improve teaching and learning environment and teaching effectiveness, so that students are able to receive a high quality education that fit the times. As the social development process, the information technology in the sophisticated is constantly improving, but the information technology used in teaching and learning has always been one of the research hot spot. Unlike traditional teaching, the multimedia teaching is stimulating students from multiple sensory through the use of a variety of ways with text, pictures, sound and image, and transfer knowledge to students vividly,at the same time, the features of multimedia expand the amount of information of the class and highly improve the teaching efficiency. By virtue of these advantages make multimedia teaching raise the proportion of colleges and universities’daily teaching. Multimedia teaching promotes the teaching reform, improves teaching efficiency, and has changed the traditional teaching philosophy, but in the current practice of the use of multimedia teaching causes many questions, how to seek a solution to the problem is the biggest task of the multimedia teaching right now.The author believes that there is no problem on multimedia teaching technology, the side effects of multimedia teaching caused by there is no appropriate suitable theoretical guidance college for teachers to use in multimedia teaching. This thesis starts from introducing the definition of multimedia teaching, the course of development, and certainly the advantages of multimedia teaching, combined with numerous literature studies with their own findings multimedia teaching and the problems were cited. And then selected Mayer multimedia learning theory to be the theoretical basis for the research of solving strategies of universities multimedia teaching problems, first introduced Mayer multimedia learning theory, followed by the revelation of Mayer’s multimedia learning theory to analyze the reasons for multimedia teaching problems of colleges and universities, and find out that teachers’ multimedia teaching ability, the quality of multimedia courseware and multimedia classroom teaching are the three main reasons. Finally, used Mayer’s multimedia learning theory to proposed the strategies to improve teachers’ multimedia teaching ability, the multimedia courseware quality as well as the multimedia classroom teaching.
