A Study On College Students' Implicit Fear Of Negative Evaluation And Its Intervention

It has been 40 years since fear of negative evaluation was proposed by Watson and Friend, and there are many relative researches during these years, including measurement tools, heredity traits, attention deviation and its application in some areas such as studying. But these studies focus on explicit fear of negative evaluation, Teachman test implicit fear of negative evaluation of teenagers by Implicit Association Test and people begain to focus on implicit effect of fear of negative evaluation.This research conducts experiment method to investigate existence and changability of fear of negative evaluation from implicit social cognition. The whole research includes two parts:The first experiment discuse the existence of the implicit fear of negative evaluation and the relationship between implicit and explicit fear of negative evaluation. The result is under below:(1) The implicit fear of negative evaluation is objectively existent;(2) Participanters'implicit fear of negative show no relationship with their sex.(3) Participanters' implicit fear of negative show no relationship with their grade.(4) Participanters'implicit fear of negative show no relationship with their growing place.(5) There is no relationship between implicit and explicit fear of negative evaluation.The purpose of the second experiment is to discuss the changeablity of people's fear of negative evaluation.The researcher use Evaluative Conditioning(EC) to interven 42 participanters. The result shows:(1) EC can change the implicit fear of negative evaluation.(2) EC is effective to weak implicit of fear of negative evaluation.
