| Vocabulary is the fundamental unit of language, which forms the basis of communication. Language will lose its practical meaning without vocabulary. Wilkins said,"Without grammar very little can be conveyed, without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed"and from the Wilkins'words, the importance of vocabulary can be obviously seen and tested by practice. However, vocabulary learning is the most difficult task in students' studies, especially for senior high school students. Through the seven-year teaching English at school, it is found that many students have mastered the grammatical items, but they still fail to get high marks in examinations. Their lack of vocabulary accounts for the result. The basic reason is that they are unwilling to memorize new words and also know little about how to recite new words. Therefore, this dissertation studies the correlation between English vocabulary learning strategies and English scores of high school students, trying to provide valuable references for high school teachers and students. Specifically, this thesis will mainly address the following questions:1. What is the students'view on the vocabulary studies?2. What problems do the students meet with in vocabulary strategies while studying vocabulary?3. Which vocabulary strategies have positive effects on the students'vocabulary studies?4. For high school students, how to use the effective vocabulary strategies to direct their future English studies? The thesis consists of six parts. The first part is introduction, which puts forward the research subject, makes clear the research background and its practical value. The second part is theory framework.
