Three concepts are delivered by the Junior High School Standard, which is summarized as fallows: l)Focusing on the comprehensive and long-term development of all students. 2)Improving the understanding of bioscience, requiring the students to master the concept of bioscience and the ability in the scientific discovery. 3)Trying to change the learning style of the students, focusing on improvement of the creativity and practice.The biological concept is the basic element of bioscience, which reflects the substance and the feature of bioscience, is the basic unit of the biological theory.In substance, bioscience is composed of several interrelated biological concepts. Biological concept is the functional unit of biology theory. The minimum requirement of biological education is to let student to master the biological concepts.Therefore, focusing on biological concept is the effective method for biological education.In biology teaching, concept matrix is comprehensively used in the biology education, which can guide the students to master the biological concepts. Concept matrix can visually introduce the knowledge structure, effectively present the thinking process and the relevancy among the concepts, and also guide the students to build up their understanding of the biological theory. As a reference to our biological education, the concept matrix is well recognized on biological education by Science Expiorer, the most authoritative educational publication in America, because that the concept matrix can directly present and distinguish the internal relationship of related concepts.This thesis deeply analyzes the application of the concept matrix in the biological education of junior high school. First, the thesis analyzes the influence of the biological concepts and concept matrix in biological education from literatures. Then, the thesis presents current status of the effectiveness of our biological education in junior high school from investigation. Finally, this thesis deeply analyzes the application of the concept matrix in biological education in junior high school from experiment.This thesis states the possibility and the recommendation to use concept matrix in biological education of junior high school. Concept matrix could be used in knowledge transfer, periodic review, examination and design of research activities, including: using concept matrix in knowledge transfer can help to systematically present the knowledge framework; using concept matrix in periodic review and examination can help to understand the internal relationship among the concepts; using concept matrix in design of research activities can help to understand the logic of the students.
