In the 21st century, human enters information age. The information technology has brought revolution for human's life and development. As the most important way to inherit and develop civilization, Education also face a lot of opportunity and challenge, especially for reading, while middle school students just in their critical time to form their outlook on life and worldview, it is so important to cultivate the reading interest for them in current information age.This thesis explores the main factor to affect the reading interest for middle school students base on the investigation and analysis on the reading situation of Chinese students and America students. Firstly, under the exam-oriented education, overloading on students impacts their reading interest; Secondly, as a sensory stimulation, audio-visual culture also shocks their reading interest significantly, television, internet, especially network games occupied the students' lots of time, but weakens the capability of perception and thinking on language, and further impact the reading interest accordingly; Thirdly, even some students could resist the impact and have some interest on reading, the reading effectiveness may be not so good if no necessary guidance, which may also impact reading interest finally.This thesis covers 3 main parts. First part analyses the reading features and the factors to affect middle school students' reading interest base on the investigation on the present reading status of Chinese and America middle school students. The second part illustrates the connotation of reading & reading interest and the meaning of cultivation of middle students' reading interest. The third part raises 5 advices for the cultivation of middle school students' reading interest base on previous analysis and constructivism instruction theory: Form good reading habit step by step; Widen reading scope and provide abundant reading material; Simulate environment and create good reading ambient; Sharing opinion and set communication platform; People-oriented and create diversified evaluation system.
