Being thought of as the most noble career in China, teachers are often refered to as "Spring Silkworms", "candle, "human ladder" and "engineers of human souls" etc., which vividly depict not only the spirit of teachers, but also the ideal image of teachers in the public mind. Image of teachers changes constantly along with teachers themselves as a professional group, while at the same time reflecting the development of education and social progress, and the values and traditions of our society and their evolution. Along with the Era of knowledge economy and information society comes the requirement s that teachers should have higher professional quality, and with people-oriented social ideology comes the requirement teachers pay more attention to the primary role of students in class, which makes the transformation of the image of teachers necessary. On the other hand, In the overall promotion of Education for all-around development, teachers have difficulties adapting to these new requirements, which to some extent harmed their image. Therefore, we must re-portrait the image of teachers, and endow it with new meaning and mission.In the 21st century, a new people-oriented development concept has become one of the basic concepts in the field of education——people are the starting point and final destination of education, of which the fundamental purpose is to realize "the comprehensive development of all students." And Humanistic Educational Thought hold highly the banner of humanism, calling for "the return of human nature.' Humanistic educational thought provide with us a good angle to re-examine the status and role of teachers and with teachers useful inspiration to reshape the image of themselves.The full-text is divided into the following five parts: PartⅠ:Introduction. A brief introduction into the origin of this study, analysis and summary of what has been done about this subject, the purpose and significance of the study and interpretation of research ideas & methods.PartⅡ:Definition of the concepts——the image of teachers and humanistic educational thought. Through a summary analysis of representative points of view, the author concluded its personal understanding of "the image of teachers". And by careful examination of humanism and humanistic education, the author sorts out the main viewpoints of humanistic education, including the purpose of humanistic education, the concept of humanistic view of teaching, humanistic view of teachers and students, humanistic view of curriculum, and humanistic view of educational evaluation.PartⅢ:an investigation into and analysis of the image of teachers in China's primary and secondary schools. With teacher's age, education background, grade level, in-charge teacher or not and urban or rural as independent variables, and indifference, preference or discrimination, corporal punishment or corporal punishment in disguised form etc., as examples of negative images of teachers, the author conducted a single-factor analysis of variance, concluding the different images of teachers, thus reflecting the image of China's primary and secondary school teachers in the status quo and Analyzing the existing problems caused by the image of teachers.PartⅣ:The humanistic dimension of the reshape of new image of Chinese teachers. The author proposes some new practical suggestions for the reshape from the humanistic perspective, which falls mainly into two categories:reshape of the public image of teachers and that of the self-image of them. In shaping the public image of teachers, the society and school needs to adopt the "teacher-oriented" concept, In shaping the public image of teachers, community and schools need the spirit of "teacher-centered" concept, to set goals based on holistic image of teachers, to form a full course of construction for the education of image of teachers, to evaluate the image of teachers based on the teachers. In shaping the image of teachers in their own level, teachers need the spirit of "student-centered" concept, for active, positive and self-creation, self-realization, the image of teachers to upgrade themselves to achieve, initiative.PartⅤ, concluding remarks. Introspection about this study, summing up its gains and shortcomings, and the outlook of further study.
