| Study on Setup of Compulsory and Elective courses for Physical Education Majors in Sport College or Department of Henan Colleges and UniversitiesBased on the survey of the curriculum setup of physical education major in eight college and universities in Henan, this study, from the point of setups of compulsory and elective courses, performs an analysis on the cultivation objectives of physical education major in Henan colleges and universities and the features of the setups of compulsory and elective courses and explores the general rule and the special aspects. From the foreign and national documents and materials about curriculum reform in colleges and universities, constructive suggestions are provided for curriculum setup of physical education major in Henan colleges and universities in the hope that they can be used as references for curriculum reform.Conclusions1. In view of the cultivation norms for physical education major, attention shall also be given to foreign language and computer teaching reform.2. Curriculum setup of physical education major in Henan cannot comply well with the cultivation objectives, and compared to the requirements in the Curriculum Proposal in 2003 the, total class hours, compulsory and elective course class hours, the ratio between class hours of compulsory and elective course, the ratio between class hours of restrictive elective course and non-restrictive elective course and ratio between discipline and subject can not meet them to a certain degree.3. Discrepancy can be found between the setup mode of compulsory and elective courses and the one in Curriculum Proposal in 2003. 4. Setup for national traditional sports courses gains little attention.Suggestions1. According to the social needs and the real situation of the school, adjustment can be made for the existing courses which will keep the total class hours within 2600 to 2800, the ratio between discipline and subject 65:35, ratio between compulsory and elective courses 63 : 37, ratio between class hours of restrictive elective course and non-restrictive elective course 53 : 47.2. Norm shall be set for setup of compulsory and elective courses for unification and setup mode shall be similar to Curriculum Proposal.3. Curriculum setup of physical education major in Henan cannot comply well with the cultivation objectives, which still can not meet the setup to a certain degree.4. Students are encouraged to have knowledge of more fields when studying the current major especially in sport industry, sport administration, sport sociology and recreational sports.5. Unique major courses new courses are recommended for sports colleges and universities in Henan according to their location and customs.6. Attempt can be made for interschool elective courses by use of intercollegiate cooperation and the construction of teaching staff shall be strengthened. |
