The author chooses the excellent Master's thesis of Higher Education Profession in the key universities in Hunan Province (Hunan Normal University, Hunan University and Central South University) as the research objects. Through analyzing the material, the author examines all the papers in CNKI from 2007 to 2009 published by postgraduate students, majoring in Higher Education in these three universities. The author analyzes the research methods adopted so as to understand the frequency of different research methods in these Higher Education Master's thesis in the past four years. From 2007 to 2009, the CNKI carried a total of 264 outstanding Master's thesis and they are the effective samples of this study. The author analysizes the main research methods of these articles, describing the application of various research methods through statistical analysis method and literature analysis method. Through the collection of information, analyzing the research methods used in such areas, the author finds the existing problems of the research methods applied in the Master's thesis and suggests some effective measures. The full text consists of four parts. Part One: Combined with current study about the educational scientific research at home and aboard, the author knows the educational research background of the current methods and sums up the research purpose of this text, defines the meaning of related concepts. At present, as an essential part of Educational Master's Graduate thesis writing, methods of educational scientific research becomes increasingly highlighted in the study. If the postgraduate students can use the scientific methods correctly and effectively, it will not only improve the quality of papers, but also allow postgraduate students to master the research methods truly. Part two:The author summarizes the applying condition of the research methods in the Master's essays majoring in Higher Education, based on analysing the methods used in the process of collecting and analysing the information. Part three:by analyzing the texts of Professional Master's thesis of three Higher Education Universities in Hunan Province, the author gets a conclusion and points out the weakenesses of the apply of study methods in above thesis. The author explores and studies the existing specific problems of research methods used in the papers and the reasons result in theses problems. At present, the majority of postgraduates don't pay attention to adopt the appropriate research methods in the writing process of thesis, or to choose the correct approach but the process of using is inadequate. Part four:after analyzing the research methods of all valid samples in the study, based on the existing problems, the author offers some suggestions in four areas:the imcrease of students'learning interests and initiatives of their own, the classroom teaching of postgraduate students'teachers, and the improvement of the social supports.
