Since the 1980s, with the rapid development of science and technology, it promote the human society entered an era of globalization. Under the background of economic globalization, competitions between countries are increasing. In order to be in an invincible position in the global competition and meet the requirements of economic globalization, we need more and more high-quality international people. University is the main department of higher education, which carries the heavy responsibility of training personnel. In order to achieve the goal of training international personnel, higher education should be internationalized and have international perspective in its development.Development of higher education in Canada has 340 years history, and it is the leader of the world in the field of education. And as an important part of development, internationalization is also the leader of the world. We can learn a lot from Canada in this field.This paper analyzes the characteristics of internationalization according to its contents in Canada, including highlighting the cooperation with developing countries and establishing close relationship with economics. The level of Canadian internationalization ranks in the front row of the world, during the development process, it has accumulate rich experiences, which consisting of recognition from government, some related institution's participation and universities'principal role. This paper also discusses the trends of the development of internationalization in higher education in Canada which based on the current situation of the internationalization in Canada. It includes the cross-border expansion of the two-way flow of students, internationalization of curriculum and international research cooperation. However, under these prosperous development trends, it still exists some problems in the development of internationalization in Canadian higher education, including that lack of inspiring teaching staff's active participation and insufficiency of financial assistance. At last,this paper means to propose some suggestions to the internationalization of higher education in China according to the successful experiences of Canada.
