An Investigation On The Development And Situation Of Table Tennis Sport In Yangquan City

As a sport which can increase human's physical and intelligent level, table tennis is good for growing pupils. Many psychologists found that among students of the same age, those who play table tennis are more intelligent than those who don't play it. Also, students who play table tennis tend to be good at operation and emotional stability and they develop their self-confidence, self control and independent thinking as well. They are quicker and more balanced than others in actions. Because of its training and entertainment, table tennis is one of pupils'favorite sport. Therefore, it is significant and practical for schools to develop table tennis so as to improve the physical and intellectual level of students as well as to expand the popularity of table tennis.Pupils are part of our society and athletic reserves. At present, the main table tennis activities in Chinese primary schools are P.E classes, extra-curricular activities as well as amateur training teams. All these activities have not only hardware requirements such as sites and equipments, but also requirements on standard, attitude and professionalism of teachers. These requirements affect the students'participation and the effect of table tennis activities in schools.With methods such as documentation, logical analysis, questionnaires, experts interviews, statistics, induction and summary, this article studies students and teachers of 20 primary schools which are spread in three districts and two counties of Yangquan. (The schools are:Hongcheng River Primary School,Shangzhan Primary School,Xiazhan Primary School, Beida Street Primary School, Saiyu Primary School, Suburban Experimental Primary School,the Attached Primary School of Pingding Normal School, Yu County Experimental Primary School,Yidong Gutter School, Xiaonan Pit Primary School, Experimental Primary Schools, the New Spring Primary School, the West Valley Primary School, the Southern Village Primary School, Jindong Primary School, New Springs Elementary School, Eastern Primary School, Shangshe Primary School, Ren Valley Primary School, Ma Ground Primary Schools). By investigating pupils'opinions on table tennis, reasons for pupils to play, development among primary school, equipments and teachers in Yangquan City, this article studies development and situation of table tennis sport among pupils in Yangquan CityThe results show that:(1) Quality-oriented education should be advocated; (2) Table-tennis teaching should be innovated; (3) Table tennis hardware equipments should be added; (4) Teachers should be well-trained; (5) Combinating teaching can be used; (6) More competitions should be held to promote the development of table tennis in Yangquan City.
