Literature, as an important part of the Chinese education, is the language of art and the home of national spirit. Literature education is the bridge of human values, mold, and cultural heritage. However, secondary literature education has developed with twists and turns, and every process has also shown a different ecology. After Literature view about literature education periodization, the paper phases the development of secondary literature education. The characteristics of each stage will be described in national outlines, textbooks and interpretation with cases'descriptions.This paper includes six chapters. The first and second chapters deal mainly about literature's functions, development status, meanings,literature's history and current status analysis, and I construct my analytical framework in this part.Chapter3 describes the secondary literature education from 1949 to 1963.It shows a short-term prosperity of literature. Literary materials in textbooks w showed a systematic trend of knowledge, and the interpretation about literature is programmed.Chapter4 describes literary education was in a long-term slump and its limited recovery under the Instrumentalism from 1963 to 1996. Textbooks became examples, and interpretation pursued a static analysis model, but ignored the subjectivity of the students and teachers. Chapter 5 describes in the context of globalization, literature education shows a booming trend from 1997 till now:diverse literature of humanity, respects of the subjectivity students and teachers and diverse interpretation. In the sixth chapter, I discuss about classiam or times of textbooks, simple or multiple interpretation. Then I conclude:It's very important to maintain the core positon and stability of classics works; to interpretate diversely, but to avoid over-interpretation.
