In the recent hundred years of Chinese education, the development of the concept of text interpretation could be divided into three stages. Zhu Ziqing and Ye Shengtao were the representatives of the foundation stage. Ye Shengtao involved in the interpretation with reading experience and creative experience, selecting classic texts as a form of exemplificaion to preserve the traditional interpretation of the text. Zhu Ziqing dug into the text with the combination of experience and theory, forming a thorough view of the interpretation through intensive reading. The empirical and theoretical concept of text interpretation were the two major sources of text interpretation forming in foundational period. In the recessive stage of development, Yu Yi and Qian Menglong were the representatives. Based on reading experience and teaching experience, Yu Yi accommodated the humanistic value throughout the interpretation of the text, while Qian Menglong focused on the reliability that lead the interpretation to a intellectual trend. The text interpretation in this period paid attention to the generation of classroom teaching, which possessed strong purposiveness, practicalness and effectiveness. And in the dominant stage represented by Sun Shaozhen and Qian Liqun, rationalist moved towards reverting. Qian Liqun cited comprehensive material, formed a persuasive style of analysis but always focused on the minds of people.On the basis of a large number of case studies and Chinese classical literary theory, Sun Shaozhen put forward a theory of text interpretation with originality. Empirical interpretation and rational interpretation are two feasible paths for the interpretation of the text. The combination of the two is the trend in the future. The purpose of this paper is to explore the origin and changing of the text interpretation and to guide the future development. |
