The Study Of How To Import Contemporary Art Into Shanghai's Art Appreciation Teaching Class In High School

This study aims to clarify the significance of contemporary art in art appreciation instruction in high schools and proves the importance of applying the methods of art criticism to appreciate the contemporary art to the cultivation of students'abilities of independent thinking and arts literacy. Firstly the concepts of contemporary art and art criticism are defined in the article. Then based on the surveys on art education of high schools in Shanghai, this thesis elaborates the necessity of the contemporary art in art appreciation curricula in Shanghai high schools. Besides it is explicitly expounded that nowadays under the cultural context of the fission and reorganization, knowledge and appreciation of the contemporary art which serve as the basis of fostering the youths'critical thinking play a key role in understanding and disseminating the global culture and national civilization. As a cultural metropolis, Shanghai has been at the forefront of the times. Arts education here should keep the pace with times, taking on their historical missions. Therefore, reform of art education in high schools should be carried out with new courses about the art education developed to respond to the students'needs in this day and age. Secondly, I focus my study on the teaching method of applying the art criticism to the appreciation of the contemporary art and design a teaching case as well as carry it out in experiment. Finally, the article analyzes problems of the teaching of artistic appreciation in high schools and puts forward relevant proposals in order to promote the continuous development of art appreciation teaching.
