Critical thinking plays an indispensable role in society,life,and education.However,middle school students have great problems in terms of critical analytical and critical thinking,and they have created problems with only teachers and people.The emergence of these problems strongly calls for cultivating students' critical thinking in schools.This study sorts out critical thinking,understands the development and connotation of critical thinking,analyzes the similarities and differences between comparative critical thinking and different thinking,and studies current strategies for cultivating critical thinking at home and abroad,and conducts research through questionnaires and own classroom practice.Understand the current status and causes of the existing problems in junior middle school students' critical thinking,and try to put forward specific suggestions on the basis of analyzing the problems.This research mainly includes five parts: The first part mainly introduces the origin and significance of the research,and analyzes critical thinking through literature research,comparative research,content method and questionnaire survey and other related research methods.Cognitive constructivism and classification of educational goals serve as the theoretical basis for this study.The second part summarizes the research status of critical thinking such as connotation definition,training strategies,and evaluation methods through literature review.The third part explores the critical connotation and analyzes the similarities and differences between critical thinking and everyday inertial thinking and creative thinking,and provides a theoretical basis for the following critical thinking training strategies.In the fourth part,through a questionnaire survey,surveys were conducted on some secondary schools in Shanghai to investigate the current tendency of junior high school students in critical thinking in Shanghai,and to understand their understanding of critical thinking and their ability to use.Find out the problems and reasons that they have encountered during the process of understanding or using them,and find out the research points and research directions for the next experimental study.The fifth part combines the essential characteristics of critical thinking and theproblems and causes of the critical thinking of junior high school students found in the practical process of the questionnaire,and puts forward the strategies for fostering critical thinking of the country,teachers,parents and students themselves.The sixth part summarizes the achievements of the cultivation of critical thinking in the process of English teaching in S middle schools in Shanghai through a recent semester of English teaching practice research,and proposes research suggestions on the problems that arise.It is hoped that through this study,the connotation of critical thinking of middle school students can be further recognized,and the cultivation of critical thinking can be effectively implemented in the process of future teaching practice,and the role of critical thinking in education can be brought into play.
