The third grade students in primary school are in the key period of their memory development. It has been accepted as the experience that memory level can affect students'academic performance. This research is doing the empirical analysis based on this experience, by using data to represent the relationship of third grade students'memory and their academic achievements.In this paper, memory of 40 students in a third grade elementary class is investigated by group-test. And the relationship between memory and the performance of each subject that is studied by statistical analysis, as well as the differences of the impact on performance between short-term memory and long-term memory, the difference of memory between boys and girls and the difference of the impact on performance among the students with different performance level.We have reached the following conclusions.(1) Students'memory and academic achievement is positively correlated. The greatest impact is on the Chinese performances, followed by the English performance and the mathematics performance.(2)About the degree of correlation with the academic performance, long-term memory is higher than the short-term memory.(3) There are gender differences in memory. Girls have better memory than boys do.(4)The memory and study performance is much more highly connected for students with lower marks than those with higher marks.The reasons that may lead to these measuring results are also discussed in this paper. The suggestions to teaching in the daily life are given according to the above-mentioned conclusions at the end part of this paper.(1) It is suggested that teachers should consciously strengthen the excises to memory of the students. There are lots of activities, such as memory competition, that can raise the level of the students'memory.(2)Teachers of different subjects should give full play to the students'memory.(3)In teaching practice, teachers should respect the differences. And need "teaching students accordance with their aptitude"...
