In recent years, Individual Learner Differences have been the focus of academic interest and researches on the relationship between individual differences and language learning have been increasingly known to the scholars.During the process of study, it has turned out that personality plays a role of great importance in language learning, but it tends to be neglected. What's more, extroversion/introversion, a variable of personality is proved to have greatly influenced the results of language learning.According to English teachers, language learners pay much attention to oral English fluency and accuracy and learners with different personality types may perform differently. However, studies on oral English, especially on the relationship between extroversion/introversion and oral English fluency and accuracy of Chinese students are so scanty, which displays great necessity of study in this filed. This thesis is a correlation study on Chinese high school students' extroversion/introversion personality type and oral English fluency and accuracy and aims at finding out who tend to perform better. In order to find out the answer, the researcher, with 50 high school students as the subjects, adopts Cattell's 16PF, classroom observation and picture-story narration and finds out that there is a significant correlation between extroversion/introversion and oral English fluency, but there is no significant correlation between extroversion/introversion and oral English accuracy.Based on the study, which gives evidence to the necessity of pattern drills introduced by structural linguists, the researcher offers some suggestions for English teaching and English teachers, and sums up its inadequacies and suggestions for future study.
