The Research Of The Smoking Behavior Of Middle School Students And Factors In Jinan

Background:Smoking behavior has become a pressing public health problem about health hazard, the human environment, the quality of life, and life expectancy. The production and sales of tobacco products of China has increased in recent years which lead to the higher smoking rate of adolescents. The results show that smoking is a very complex process that could cause great hazard to physical and mental health. Smoking habits may have some factors with life. We research the status of smoking behavior in middle school in Jinan and the influences.Research purpose:we make lots of Investigation to understand the current smoking situation and Dynamic characteristics in different students type; make analysis of risk behaviors of smoking among middle school students in Jinan; we could provide a scientific basis for health and education sectors to develop the prevention policies and measures.Research Methods:We adopt the random sampling as three levels and Stratified cluster. The number of survey students is 5410 which come from middle schools of Urban and rural areas in Jinan.There are 15 middle schools which contain ordinary and key,junior and senior high schools in Urban areas. The number of Urban students is 2932. At the same time, There are 15 middle schools which contain development and developing areas in rural. We choose Zhangxiu City,Changqing District,Changhe County on the behalf of the different areas.The number of rural students is 2478 that come from two junior and senior high schools and a vocational high school.Main research results:The survey has dscribed and analyzed the adolescent smoking situation of different biology, sociology features.The reaearch results involve the Try smoking and current smoking rate and the Discrepancy of different adolescent which have different Gender, age, grade, school type, family background, academic performance, accommodations, and rural or urban areas.The results show that, there are 2408 students have tried smoking and there are 956 students have smoked currently. The try smoking and current smoking rate is 44.5 and 17.7%.The smoking rates for boys and girls has Significant difference.The ages from 10～11 students accounted for the largest proportion in trying smoking students,18～19 ages students accounted for the largest proportion in current smoking students, The smoking rates for different ages has Significant difference.The smoking rate of vocational high school stundents is much higher than junior and senior high schools significantly. The tendency of try smoking and current smoking rate is increased volatility in pace with year growth. The try smoking of rural areas is higher than urban areas while the current smoking rate of urban areas is higher than rural areas.The difference between ordinary and key school students is notable.The smoking rate has decreased and changed as the improving of mothers education and the occupations of fathers. The situation of accommodation and achievements take an important effect on the smoking rate.Univariate analysis showed that, the related factors with trying smoking behavior include Gender, age, academic performance, the gap between the quality of school teaching, school type, accommodation, mother education, father occupation and so on. Non-conditional Logistic regression analysis showed that, Gender, father occupation, mother education take greater impact on adolescent smoking behavior. Conclusion:The differences between the try smoking and current smoking rate is very large.The factors that influnce students smoking behavior are very complex and interaction.Among these factors, gender and family inflence are the most important.Suggestion:We should Strengthen School health education and tobacco control interventions,guiding the curious psychological of smoking properly, creating no-smoking environment actively,.All these measures are for the same target of control adolescent smoking.
