Objective To investigate and study the mental health status and smoking behavior status as well as its' influential factors of high school students in Huainan. The aim was to set up intervention measures in preventing mental problem and behavior problem of high school students. Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out involving 1250 high school students(effective cases were 1160 high school students) from grade 1 to grade 3 of five high schools, which was selected by stratified sampling. The mental status and smoking behavior status of cigarette smoking questionnaire(for completion by in person) involving self-designed checklist of relevant factors and other specialized checklist such as ASLEC (Adolescent Self-rating Life Events checklist), EMBU(Egma Minnen av Barddosnauppforstran), Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) were used to rate mental status and behavior status such as cigarette smoking, to explore influencing factors of mental problems and behavior problems. Avail of the methods of one-way analysis of variance of statistic and logistic regression model, principal component analysis, data redution.et al. The data which had been registered by Epi Info6.0 software, and studied by SPSS 10.0 Software package. Results 1. Total detected rate of mental problem was 26.29%, and male and female are27.33%, 25.14% respectively. There was no significant statistical meaning between male students and female students. From the result of survey , we can see significant statistical meaning among grade I , grade II and grade III. The detected rate of highschool students' mental problems were interpersonal sensitivity (12.26%) , Obsessive-Complusive(11.32%),hostility(10.21%),Paranoid ideation(8.36%),anxiety(6.73), depression(6.21%) respectively. Compared with the norm of highschool students in China, the score in Huainan was higher than the norm in China. By means of factors analysis, we found that main factors which influenced high school students' mental health were school educational factors , Social factors, family educational factors and high school students themselves. 2. The detected rate of mental problems of high school students whose father having more bad hobbies was higher than those students whose father not having bad hobbies; In addition, the learning achievement of high school students was closely related to Parental Rearing Patterns; The result showed that there were significant statistical meaning between students' mental problems and the total scores of parental rearing patterns as well as the scores of father teaching as family educational center among five kinds of different schools. By logistic regression analysis, we found that the reason of the mental problem of high school students result from lacking of warmth and understandings from father and mother, father having more bad hobbies, refusing denying and excess punishment from father and mother et al. The comprehensive relation between the students' mental problems and poor parental rearing patterns is proved by logistic regression analysis and One-way ANOVA analysis. 3. The detected rate of smoking condition of high school students in Huainan was 31.55%, with male high school students being 50.90%, female students being 10.02%. The result showed that in country school was higher than that in city school, the detected rate in key school was higher than that in non-key school. The condition of the country high school was the most serious of the five different kinds of high schools, and the key high school was the lowest. The smoking condition of high school students was se...
