At the Late 19th and early 20th century, education as an independent subject, established it's own place in China's higher education institutions. Since then, education had been taught as an major course in China's higher education institutions. Modern times is a very important period to the development of education subject in china. And in this period, the education professor's professional behavior played a very important role in promoting the development of the subject. Therefore, the study of the education professor's professional behavior of this period has important implications to the future development of education subject and will give scholar engaged in education some reference.This paper follows the principle of"take history as a mirror", uses document analysis and typical case study, carries out a detailed in-depth discussion on professional behaviors of professor of education in modern China.The first chapter describes the reasons of the study and researches related to education professor ,defines concepts of education, professors, professional behavior and other related concepts, and identifies research ideas and methods for the study.Chapter two analyses teaching activities of Modern education professors from the aspects of offering courses and compile the textbooks and teaching materials. During this period the courses and teaching materials that Professor of Education offered covered all aspects of the educational disciplines.Chapter III analyses Professor of Modern Chinese research activities of academic education. First they Translated foreign educational thought and theory. By translating education work of Japan and the West country, publishing article about the Western educators and inviting them to China to give lectures, etc, the world popular education theories and thoughts are introduced to our nation. Second, they founded the national education theory at the thought of foreign education theories and reflection,Education professors put forward new theories with the actual conditions of our nation. Take chenHeqin's "living education" theory for example. Third, they founded educational academic community. With this platform, professor of education, studied related educational theory, practiced their own educational ideas.Chapter IV analyses community service activities of of Modern Chinese educaion Professor. first is their practice in primary and secondary schools. Mainly take example of Yu ziyi's promoting sub-case methods of teaching . Second is their practice in social education. Mainly take yuqingtang's Ideas of public education and the practice of Tao xingzhi, "Engineering Group" practice as an example.Chapter five is the Analysis of the impact of subject nature on the education professor's professional behavior ,and the impact of China's modern education professor's professional behavior on the development of the education subject.Education's dual nature of academic disciplines and applied sciences theory makes professors of education not only committed to educational theory but also pay special attention on teaching practice, especially primary and secondary education, which inspires the development of education today.Modern education professors'professional behavior not only promoted the establishment of it's branch discipline, but also promoted the formation of the Chinese academic system of education and the scientific development of China's educational disciplines. Besides,their professional behavior made Chinese education follow the discipline of development trends in world education and sinify it in China.
