Accompanying with a large number of rural labors transferring to urban, a specific group-group of migrant children has formed in China. In recent years migrant children are being paid much attention by the society.School readiness which is a factor that predicts children's school adjustment and achievement has been an international hot issue in the field of preschool education. However the related studies on school readiness of migrant children at preschool-age are limited in our nation.This research put the focus on the migrant children and explored their school readiness.Based on the results of the studies toward school readiness, this study explored the school readiness of preschool migrant children in use of the School Ready Tool Box. Meanwhile the study investigated and analyzed the home and kindergarten environments by a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.The results revealed that preschool migrant children's school readiness was at a medium level compared with norm scores of rural. While compared with norm scores of urban preschool migrant children's school readiness was at a backward level. Preschool migrant children's school readiness of"learning approach"and"language development"aspects was poor. Preschool migrant boys' school readiness was worse than preschool migrant girls'. As for the analyses on the home environments, the factors such as their disadvantages in both social and economic situation, the overall low level educational background of their parents, their parents'limited view of children's school readiness, the lack of educational resources and the interaction of low frequency and poor quality were unfavorable for children's school readiness. But that their parents lay emphasis on the children's cognitive readiness, communication ability and self-care ability was favorable for children's school readiness. In terms of kindergarten environments, poor infrastructure, backward faculty and the teachers'one-sided conception of school readiness were bad for children's school readiness. Meanwhile teaching focused on cognitive abilities of children was good for children's school readiness.Based on these findings the researcher discussed the problems of preschool migrant children's school readiness and their background. Some strategies and suggestions have been put forward to improve the school readiness of preschool migrant children.
