As we get further understanding of the pre-school children's education, we pay much more attention to the pre-school children's art education. So how to cultivate children's interest in art and how to inspire the children's capability should be the focus of the pre-school children's art education.The United States is one of the countries that carry out the art education in early times. In 1950s, America had established a national art education committee and after years, basing on much research, published a report: Our insight– the importance of Art Education to our country in 1977,which illustrates that the art and art education play an irreplaceable role in our history and daily life. In 1990s, the U.S. government promulgated The National Standards of Arts Education, proposing the art education should be for all students, stressing the core value of art education curriculum, and establishing arts curriculum be the significant position in school education. Based on the impact of American art education to the world, by analyzing the course of American art education development, and exploring the discipline and experience, combining the Chinese status of pre-school children's arts education, this article proposes some reform programs and demands to promote the reform of China's pre-school education.This article first sets out the purpose and significance of American pre-school children's art education, and related concepts of pre-school children, art, art education, and then divided into four parts to discuss the United States pre-school children's art education.The first part: the Ideological of United States pre-school children's art education. The formation of American art education has gone a process from quantitative change to qualitative change. Dewey's "Art as Experience" had brought the art from the rationality to the real life. V.Lowenfeld's "To Personal Growth-Centered" Advocate for children's artistic expression made full use of their inner creative impulse and should not be subject to interference, he also described pre-school children performance in the graffiti and graphic period, indicating that we can understand the children's development through artistic. M.J.Parsons's"Regard to the Aesthetic Understanding of Human Development" have discussesed the purpose, principles and strategy in arts education,The second part: Analysis the Characteristic of American pre-school children's art education. This section overview the pre-school children's art education, andt we can understand the modern American art education status and the trends of development.The author sums up the characteristics of the American pre-school children's art education: to define the objectives of strategic;for all students and implement the individualized teaching;art activities focusing on the close link with the real life; society, schools and families complementing each other in the process of art education; art education in line with the United States for all children, focusing on cultivating and improving the overall quality that mapped out the arts education in the United States had gradually attracted widespread attention.The third part: the experiences and limitations of the America pre-school children's art education. The American art education is not only the necessary requirement for education, but also to deal with the challenges of economic and social progress in education. This article analyses the strengths of the U.S. pre-school children's art education, and points out that art education is an open, pluralistic, integrated art education, making pre-school children to express themselves more self-confidently, and further analyze the reality of its existence:courses be too easy; imbalance of educational resources; confusion of the new immigrants and multi-ethnic. to reminds educators in their art education and teaching activities should learn other strengths and reject their limitations.The fourth part: the United States pre-school children's art education and enlightenment of our reference. The main problems of China pre-school children's art education are: "adult" "pattern" "abnormal" "blind" in pre-school children Art education, the traditional system have become resistance factor to children's art education.Refer to the experience of U.S. pre-school children's art education, we should strengthen the teacher training and establish a new teaching philosophy when we practice our art education. We can try it as the following points: 1.adhere to people-centered teaching philosophy, stressed the student body; 2.breaking the traditional art teaching methods, changing the teaching ideas; 3.making the curriculum close with the reality, and create an atmosphere of art education; 4.strengthening the teacher training and cultivating innovative teachers.
