In our country, the employment of college students has been in a bottleneck where liberal arts students' employment is the title. Under the new economic era, the employment situation seems worse and worse. As we all know, the United States has been the world leader and champion in higher education whose liberal arts college is enduring wonderful. However, currently each expert as well as scholar has been focusing on more employment force and employment ability of college students, than systematic comparative study the employment competitiveness of liberal arts students at home and abroad. Through systematically analyzing journal articles and reports about the research topic closely related, we find that thanks to the US government joint linking universities, employers and liberal arts students to collaborate culturing, the American liberal arts students with employment competitiveness such as literacy skills, communication skills, critical thinking, problem solving skills, collaboration, information literacy and vocational training will have a future. Contracting our actual situation, our government can offer policy strategies, liberal arts college can reform curriculum, employers can provide training and liberal arts students can try to self-improve, so as to really solve the problem of liberal arts students' employment. Therefore, based on the development of American liberal arts education, this article is researching the employment tradition and prospects of American liberal arts college students; referring to the statistics bases of AAC & U, NACE, the US bureau of labor statistics, Hart Research Association as well as the Human Resources and Employment Management; studying the current employ situation of American liberal arts college students and employers' hiring requirements; As famous Manchester College, Virginia Tech University and the Harvard School of Humanities for example to study their liberal arts curriculums and thus to find the different training strategies of American different liberal arts colleges. Lastly, we conclude the employment competitiveness of American liberal arts students, affecting factors, training strategies and enlightenment to our country.
