Vocabulary relates sound and grammar, which is the foundation of the language.Vocabulary is very important in English learning. It is also the most difficult aspect in Englishlearning of Junior students of Chaoxianzu. They spend more time on vocabulary, but theeffects are minor, so it is worth studying the existing situation about vocabulary learningstrategies.The students have English learning difficulties in Chaoxianzu Junior Middle School.They have a lot of trouble with vocabulary pronunciation, spelling and low vocabulary, whichwill affect how they use the vocabulary and the further study. The thesis is based on the realsituation to study how the EFL learners with learning difficulty use vocabulary learningstrategies. The aim is to learn how the students with English learning difficulty in ChaoxianzuJunior Middle School learn vocabulary and the causes, which will be helpful to theeducational practice.In order to finish the task, questionnaire instruments,interview and testing were used,thus involving qualitative and quantitative methods.183 students of Grade Two in ChangchunChaoxianzu Junior Middle School are the subjects of the study.The major findings of the research are as follows:1. Korean negative transfer, Korean language dependent strategies and Chinese asmedium of English language teaching, which are the major impact on English vocabularylearning strategies, and it is also the important reason for learning difficulties.2. The EFL learners with learning difficulty in Chaoxianzu Junior Middle School havetaken mechanical repetition of memory strategy, which is the main strategy, so the lack ofstrategies lead to difficulty of learning vocabulary, which is another crucial reason.The thesis includes seven chapters. Chapter One is the foreword, which includes thecondition of the research, the research problems and significance. Chapter Two is literaturereview, it defines the EFL learner with learning difficulty,the related research. Chapter Threeis the theoretical basis, which provides the theoretical support for the study. Chapter Fourincludes the investigative tools and the survey design, which uses testing, interviews,questionnaires to survey the vocabulary learning difficulty and the causes. Chapter Five is theanalysis and discussion. Chapter Six is the pedagogical implications. The last chapter is theconclusion.
