One problem English teachers always face is how to arouse students'study motivation as well as to maintain it. There are more requirements needed for us English teacher on ESL in Senior school under the new situation, how to stimulate and maintain students'motivation as well by using relative methods and strategies so as to improve teaching effects has been a problem that most English teachers are thinking about.J.M. Keller, is a professor in Florida State University of America, who developed ARCS model of motivational design, which consists of four factors, that's attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. The model is explained to attract students'attention first, students will find certain relevance with the new knowledge and the proper tasks will build up their confidence, which will finally make them feel satisfied. The theory has arouse quite a lot attention in education field in many countries and areas since it had been put forward.The paper uses the studying results of educational Psychology research on motivation theory as a source of reference, then analyzes the internal mechanism and influencing factors of ARCS model carefully. After analyzing the senior students'motivation of learning English by a questionnaire, the paper chooses ARCS model as its foundational theory and suggests a lot of multimedia teaching strategies based on the characteristics of senior students and the new senior English curriculum, which were integrated into teaching practice.After three months'class observation, the questionnaire of the strategies for multimedia class and the model's effect, we can find the validity of the model and it has a positive effect on the multimedia class in senior high school. later the paper also gives a sample teaching case on how to use the ARCS strategies to prove the validity and feasibility of the ARCS model in senior multimedia classes. And the paper gives a series of feedback on the study at the end.
