Geography case teaching refers to a certain teaching method, under the guidance of teaching aim and teaching content, using typical case of organized students to learn, research, discussion, and thus enable students to acquire knowledge and develop the ability of students. This way of teaching has a positive and advanced meaning to geography teaching under the new curriculum idea.The new curriculum standards require that promote autonomous learning, cooperative learning and inquiry learning, which requires teachers to change the teaching idea, while changing the way of students learn, for students to conduct a comprehensive quality education, according to geography curriculum aim and contents, based on student learning conditions, give full play to the advantages of geographical case teaching, around the geography scientific literacy of geography knowledge, geography viewpoint, and geography capacity, etc, using the relevant teaching methods. From the student's all-round development and lifelong learning starting to develop students awareness of innovation and practical ability, to enhance the social responsibility of students, to form a concept of sustainable development.Papers take the basic idea of new curriculum reform and case teaching theory as a guide, combined with the practical teaching, using the methods of document investigation, theoretical analysis, questionnaire methods and interviewing methods to analysis the compulsory geography textbook that pressed by People's education press's basic geography idea designed for case, combined with the new curriculum aims and interviews of teaching practice, explored some of the issues and reasons that existing in the application of geography case teaching, proposed the optimization strategy of geography case teaching, concrete operation method of classroom application and basic flow of geography case teaching is given. Seeks to optimize teaching by using geography case teaching, so that enhance students abilities and qualities, and provide a combination of theory and practice for the majority of geography teachers with a strong operational case teaching guide.
