Art and art education plays a great role in training and stimulating the various ways of thinking and creative thinking of students, the art education in primary and middle school can help students formed a rich culture gradually in the process of developing their intuition, reasoning, imagination, expression and communication. Along with the development of new curriculum reform, art education as an important part of foundation education and quality-oriented education holds more and more important status, but there is still so many problems in practice that the unique function of art education has not been mined effectively. "It does great good to education through learning from the others." The art education of the Unite States has been well developed, it is value for us to learn that the rich experiences has been accumulated in the development of researching and practicing art education curriculum in public school in California.This thesis regards the art education curriculum in public schools in California as the research object, through systemize the curriculum standard, curriculum content, curriculum implementation, curriculum evaluation and curriculum characteristics of art education in public school in California to understand the whole process and general situation of art education in public school in California.At present domestic research in art education of the Unite States hardly take the art education as a complete system to study, mostly from curriculum theory to grasp, or from one aspect of curriculum to explore, more from the model of instruction and curriculum standard to study. This article through consult and translate a great of literature and website resources related the art education curriculum in public primary and middle schools in California to understand and master the actual situation of art education curriculum in microcosmic view. The content and methods of art education curriculum in California public schools advocate implementing integrated curriculum, emphasize the fusion of art theory, art and artistic practice lesson, in the same time pay more attention to the combination of art education curriculum and other disciplines. In practice, the instrumental role of art education has been play effectively through variety of art education instruction activities. The effect of art education in stimulating students' wisdom and creativity has been universally acknowledged, therefore, it is useful for us to perfect our primary and middle school art education curriculum reform and construction of curriculum system that research art education curriculum in California public schools.
