Our country is currently in a critical period of transformation.Facing the transformation of social moral values and the requirements of social development for compound talents,the moral education work under the traditional model can no longer adapt to the new situation well.Moral education in universities must be innovative and is also required to satisfy the demand for social development through its reform and transformation.How to effectively combine the characteristics of college students in the new era to carry out moral education has become a major issue facing college moral education.New character education came into being in the 1980s to resolve the crisis of moral decline among American youths,and it has become the mainstream education model for solving modern moral dilemmas.The article tries to excavate the unique moral education theory and practical experience under the new character education model and to provide a reference for the development of moral education in Chinese universities.Different from the macro-introduction research,the article subdivided the new character education into four parts:student collective construction,campus culture construction,moral education team construction,and moral education curriculum construction according to the framework of college students’ moral education work,and targeted the capture of new ideas and courses.The new method integrates the new character education into the current moral education system,and proposes theoretical ideas in the aspects of character curriculum reform,moral situation creation,character community construction,and collaborative promotion of character development.The first part introduces the research background,practical significance and research progress at home and abroad;The second part elaborates the connotation,characteristics,theoretical origin and work content of the new character education and the moral education work of college students;The third part analyzes the current dilemma faced by the moral education of college students in our country;The fourth part discusses the feasibility of integrating new character education into college students’ moral education work;the fifth part proposes multiple ways to improve current moral education work.
