Our country is in the process of building a harmonious socialist society, so this requires that the main body of society-people is harmonious.It also puts forward the value guidance for our current education, so education should adhere to the philosophy of student-oriented to promote the all-round development of students. The moral education, as an inextricable part of education, should comply with the guiding ideology. The main responsibility of moral education is to promote morality of the students, so moral education is a kind of that which promotes the harmonious development of student’s moral character education. For a long time, however, in most instances our country’s moral education only pay attention to the social function of moral education, regarding people as the machine to passively obey the social rules, inculcating the moral norm to students. Moral education has played a positive role in social stability and integration in a certain period, but also has appeared a lot of disadvantages at the same time. This moral education frequently regards the student as object of passive position-processed products, while completely ignoring the needs of the students. Therefore, students don’t identify with the moral knowledge, and it reduces the practical benefits of moral education. The object of moral education is people who are in certain social relations, while the traditional moral education regarding people as abstract men who are “jade” which are waiting to be carved and ignores the cultivation of the students’ moral emotion, the exercise of moral will and the formation of moral belief. It is no wonder that student’s moral problem has risen. Undoubtedly, it is the main responsibility for moral education to promote morality of the students. Students’ morality is a unified whole which is comprised by moral knowledge, moral feeling, moral will, moral belief and moral behavior. Therefore, moral education should take the harmonious development of students’ moral character as purpose. China is in the all-round social transformation period. It makes differences for the student’s values, ways of thinking and ways of behavior. Meanwhile the moral development of disharmony phenomenon of many students appears. It poses challenges for the current school moral education. This needs us to give up the traditional moral education mode, and reflect on it. We should analyze the cause of the dissonance, and explore the way of promoting the harmonious development of students’ moral character. The harmonious development of students’ moral character is the result of the combination of internal factors and external factors, therefore, we should start from the external cause, not only change the traditional moral education mode to create harmonious environment of school moral education, but also pay attention to the influence of the internal cause, guiding the student to carry on the moral character of the self-construction, so as to realize the goal of the harmonious development of students’ moral character.This paper mainly can be divided into three parts. The first part, mainly for moral concepts are summarized. This part starts from moral concept to discuss the characteristics, the structure, the formation and the development of moral character. When referring to moral structure, it puts forward that moral character is made up of moral knowledge, moral emotion, moral will, moral belief and moral behavior, and these factors constitute a unified whole. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the character, this lays a foundation for the further study of the harmonious development of student’s moral character. On the analysis of the structure about character, there are five factors that contribute moral character to a whole. It can’t form a complete moral character if lacks of any kind of factors and among five elements are not random, but a harmonious unity. The relationship among various factors is complex. Character has a relative stability once formed, but it is variable. The variability reflects in the different age stages and there are differences among individuals. In addition, this part analyzes the purpose of moral education which is to promote students’ development and points out that the starting point of moral education is complete man; however, the character is the spirit of the kernel of full people. Therefore, the purpose of moral education is to promote the harmonious development of the students’ moral character, and it reflects the necessity and the possibility of the moral education in promoting the harmonious development of students’ moral character.The second part discusses the performance of current students’ moral mismatch, analyzes the cause of the dissonance about students’ moral character and provides reference for exploring ways to promote the harmonious development of students’ moral character. This part is from two aspects of internal and external causes. When talking about the external cause, it mainly talks from the school moral education of disharmony, the negative influence of social environment and the lack of family education. The internal cause is mainly from the own body and mind development aspects of students. When talking about the disharmony of school moral education, it highlights the disharmony between the traditional moral education and school moral education environment and the lack of harmony of traditional moral education is discussed from five aspects: the traditional moral education goal, the content of the traditional moral education, the methods of traditional moral education, the traditional moral education mode of evaluation and the relationship between the teachers and students in traditional moral education. It concludes that the traditional moral education and disharmonious school moral education environment hinder the harmonious development of students’ moral character.The third part explores the ways to promote the harmonious development of students’ moral character. Traditional moral education is not suitable for today’s era, and also can’t meet the needs of students; therefore, to promote the harmonious development of students’ moral character, the traditional mode of moral education must be changed. At the same time, the formation and development of students’ moral character is due to the result of joint action, both inside and outside. The mismatch of students’ moral character is also affected by the internal and external factors. Therefore, this article puts forward the ways to promote the harmonious development of students moral character. Not only the influence of external factors should be paid attention to, but also the influence of internal factors. This article embarks from the external environmental factors, and puts forward harmonious school moral education environment which mainly includes the physical environment, cultural environment, institutional environment and human environment. At the same time, this part is also from internal factors to discuss, such as promoting the student’s own ability and guiding the student to carry on the moral character of the self-construction.
