The distance learning provides a relatively loose, fast, free and open learning environment for the learners. It breaks through the time and space constraints and changes the unity of the communication forms of teaching information. But because of the spatial separation, emotional communication in distance learning is relatively lacked. So how to measure and record the learners'cognitive and learning mood, and realizing the human-cared emotional communication has become an important topic which deserves in-depth study in distance education. This paper through analyzes the research results of e-portfolio and affective computing, drawing emotional psychology, distance education and information architecture theory, puts forward an emotional information portfolio of distance learners which tracks record learning emotions of learners timely.Using the methods of literature analysis, case analysis, system science, and object-oriented design, the paper has carried out from the following five aspects.(1) The analysis of portfolio's research base. Providing the emotional information portfolio's definition, and summarized theoretical and technical foundation of its design and development.(2) The analysis of emotional information portfolio's content and structure. Referencing the content and structure of e-portfolio, it proposes emotional information portfolio's content and structure frame. According to this frame, it describes its basic concepts in detail.(3) Defines the basic mood in study, and builds an emotion model. According to the actual learning mood in study, it defines six kinds of basic mood under the guidance of sentiment classification and dimensional space theory. And it builds a model of emotional information, too.(4) The design of emotional information portfolio. Papers designs the emotional information portfolio, and divide it into four subsystems, including acquisition subsystem, storage subsystem, display subsystem and control subsystem. And detail designing each subsystem.(5) The development of portfolio system. According to the system design methods, develop an emotional information portfolio of distance learners which based online course. After a series of studies, paper makes following certain achievements.(1) Defines the concept of emotional information portfolio, and obtains the content framework of the emotional information portfolio of distance learners. It thinks that the content of the emotional information portfolio system should include six aspects: the learner information, the learning information, the emotional basis, the emotional information and the emotional evaluation and reflect. It provides a reference for obtaining the functional requirements of the system.(2) Reached the system design model of the emotional information portfolio, according to the general process of system design, and combined with the emotional characteristics of dynamic change in the distance learning process, designs the emotional information portfolio.(3) Complete the development of part functions of the emotional information portfolio system, and its design method and model portfolio has been applied, preliminarily verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the design and model of the portfolio.The innovations of the paper:(1) Develop a valid design methods and models of the emotional information portfolio on distance learners, providing a method reference for designing emotional support system.(2) The design of the emotional information portfolio system on distance learners, taking into account the theory of design and software design, to a certain extent, improved the phenomenon of the divorce on theory and technology in the design of e-portfolio system.Future research is to further improve the emotional collection and the design of emotional record.
