A degree system is an important component of the higher education system. Bachelor degree is a part of this higher education system in China's degree system. A bachelor degree not only can serve as the basic academic standard requirement in the graduate programs, but also can reflect the teaching quality and the ranking of a university. Recently in China, the expansion of higher education system, the degree award unit and the number of degrees awarded have extremely increased. In this vein, its influence on the quality of bachelor degrees awarded has been questioned. The United States is one of the most developed countries on higher education, and her experience on higher education expansion precedes that of China. The paper selects Brigham Young University as an example, and analyses the academic standard, curriculum structure and content, achievement evaluation for students, as well as the degree award procedure and requirements. Therefore, the paper is to look at the academic standard differences between United States and China higher education system. From this study lessons learned, if any, can be implemented in China.This paper consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction and research background. This section, puts forward the topic of study, the significance and purpose of the research, and also sets up the appropriate research methodology. It further provides a broad review of relevant literature consistent with the study. The second part is an overview of degree system in United States and bachelor degree awarded in recently United States. The third part, takes Accounting Department in Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University as a case study. This section, that understudies Accounting degree requirement and standards, first it gives a brief introduction of Brigham Young University and Marriott school of Management. Then it looks and delineates the following factors (requirements, education objects, curriculum structure, and curriculum contents, achievement evaluation for students, and degree award procedure and requirements) that determine academic standards at Brigham Young University. The fourth part provides a comparative analysis on academic standard of bachelor degree between Brigham Young University and Zhejiang Normal University China, so as to determine any lessons to be learned for China.Ministry Of Education in China only made the simple regulations on criterion and procedure of bachelor degree award since 1980, it resulted a shortage of strict and perfect academic standard during the implement of degree award. Therefore, it is necessary for China to learn from the degree system in United States to improve the academic standard of bachelor degree in China.
