Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was threefold: (1) to identify and describe the trend of degree completion and non-completion by women students at Brigham Young University in the period 1975 to 1982, (2) to compare and contrast the intentions of women entering the University with their actual accomplishments during the seven-year period, and (3) to determine the reasons for students leaving the University before achieving their goals.;The most significant findings were that 51.4 percent of the freshmen women who entered BYU in the Fall of 1975 had not completed a degree by March of 1982. Of the women who did not graduate from BYU and responded to the survey, 58.8 percent had originally intended to earn a bachelor's degree; only 11 percent were currently enrolled in a bachelor's program. The main reasons for leaving BYU without completing a degree were given as marriage and financial problems.
