With a currently widespread wave of globalization, there are an increasingly larger number of students who have left their native land for an advanced education abroad.Whether they can successfully conduct cross-cultural communication in chinese campus may pay large influence on their life.Research on International Students'Cross-cultural Personal Adaptation in South China University of Technology, the major objective of this research is to investigate the pattern of social interaction of international students in China. This study adopts qualitative research methods, based on interviews and observations conducted with international students.The dissertation is divided into the following 3 parts. Part one consists of discussions of the origin and theoretical basis of the issue in question. The former includes the value of this research, the background in which the issue was raised, the exploration and application of research methodology; the latter covers cultural theories, inter-personal interaction theories and theories of cross-cultural communication. Part two is the process of research. Part three constitutes the main body of this dissertation, which is based on interviews of international students from different countries. From the perspective of an outsider, the researcher analyzes the individual cases of cross-cultural communication.Analysis of the data from the survey revealed that:â‘ The social networks of international students in China could almost be in the foreigners' group, such as fellow compatriots and other non-compatriot foreigner people;â‘¡Chinese were contacted with less frequently. Certain factors have an influence on students' cross-cultural adaptation. these factors includes language, living style, cultural differences, which come from outside environment; and some from individual diversity, like knowledge and skills,acknowledgement, and willingness of communication.Based on the essence of problem, this paper uses representation language to describe stories from international students.
