| Leisure culture refers to the lifestyle which people create and keep in their leisure time. It is the product of the development of human society and also a symbol of social progress. Healthy leisure culture can promote all-round development of mankind, improve the quality of workers, and finally promote a harmonious relationship between humans and nature, humans and society, and humans and humans. It can speed up the construction of a harmonious society.Firstly, based on previous theories on leisure culture, this thesis elaborates the contents, characteristics, and functions of leisure culture, and also the factors that affect it and its theoretical basis. Secondly, the thesis analyzes the current status of leisure culture in China, including three features of contemporary leisure culture and the development of three leisure industries. Therefore, the limitations of Chinese leisure culture are brought to light, such as the lack of leisure education, the insufficiency of leisure supplies, the monotony of leisure consumption, the inequality of opportunities for leisure activities and the lack of leisure time for working people, etc. Thirdly, the thesis fully demonstrates the relationship between leisure culture and the construction of a socialist harmonious society and in the meantime reveals the inherent consistency of them. It also discusses the fundamental traits of leisure culture and the important role that it plays in the construction of harmonious society. Finally, the thesis puts forward some measures on how to develop a civilized leisure culture. In terms of internal requirements, great emphasis must be put on the leisure education in and out of schools in a bid to achieve self-education of individual citizen; in terms of external requirements, a strong economy is imperative in funding leisure facilities. Innovation in institution and technology, and reinforcement of justice and supervision are also needed in building a robust leisure culture in our country.
