Intelligent Agent And Its Application In Network Management

Network management is one of the key technologies in network field. Most of the running network management systems adopt the centralized management paradigm,which makes the whole system lack of scalability,flexibility and reliability. Distributed network management provides a good solution for the problems,and represents the newest direction of network management. However,the distributed network management has the complexities on architecture,communication,interaction and coordination,which brings difficulties to the analysis,design and operation of management systems,and in turn prevents this type of network management paradigm from being used in large scale.Based on the analysis of current intelligent agent techniques and characteristics,especially the concept,design,implementation of mobile agent,this thesis proposes a novel mobile-agent-based centralized-distributed network management approach to solve some problems in distributed network management. The approach partially realizes functions of distributed network management,and improves traditional centralized network management.In the end,a prototype of the design is built based on the IBM mobile agent framework-Aglet.
