Due to its special advantages such as low cost, flexible services, etc, IP phone is becoming one of the most rapidly developing application technologies. The new-style SIP protocol which is put forward to resolve many primary problems in IP phone network has such advantages as simplicity and flexibility. uClinux is a derivative of Linux operating system intended for microcontrollers without Memory Management Units (MMUs).This paper discusses an Embedded SIP Server System Based on uClinux. An IP phone system based on SIP protocol has more flexibility, more simple architecture, shorter call setup time, easiness of implementing supplementary services or intelligent services, advantage of distributed control.The research and development works of the dissertation are as follows:On the basis of studying uClinux operating system, an integrated development environment has been set up based on uClinux, which has made earlier preparations for the development of application under this environment.Based on studying the form of SIP message and the requirements forhandling, SIP protocol has been designed and realized. And a test has been carried on. All this lays a foundation for the research and development of succeeding SIP server.According to each server function that is defined in SIP , this paper has carried on the function design to the embedded SIP server and discussed some key technologies in realization of sever, including registration, localization, call out and join, server management and file conservation. Better realization of these technologies will play a vital role for raising systematic usability, reliability, and integration.
