The Research Of EPP Communication Based On WDM Driver

The research of EPP communication based on WDM driverThe I/O interface between the computer and peripheral hardware has many kinds. To the thing that the respects, such as data transfer rate, technological complexity, cost of several serial interfaces and parallel interfaces on PC,ect. comparing, we choose EPP that technology is relatively simple and that it is with low cost to develop as the I/O interface between PC and digital printing device and we have discussed to basic principle of EPP in detail in this paper. Requiring the output-speed of interface to digital printing device, we put forward a method that making use of two characteristic IOPL and IOPM of the processor in protected mode to write the device driver to drive the EPP,after further study of mechanism of accessing to I/O in Windows 2000 and the function principle of the driver in Windows 2000.In this way we can transmit the data to peripheral through the device driver of EPP,thus guaranteeing the real-time quality between the output of EPP and output of printhead.
