Though the General-purpose processor is flexible in calculation,it was lack of efficiency,and ASIC is more efficient but less in flexibility.Reconfigurable Computing architecture is emerging as an alternative to conventional ASIC and General-purpose processor, can be postfabrication customized for a wide class of applications to achieve significantly higher performance over General-purpose processor. Currently,Reconfigurable Computing System is configurable logic(FPGA) attached to General-purpose processor.The configurable logic provides speed-up for specific complex computing.This paper gives the design and implementation of a Component Reconfigurable System based on embedded processor and the application of it to a Electromagnetic Valve Actuation controller of engine.The study of this subject is important for the development of Reconfigurable System in application of automobile electronic.Firstly,it discuss the Reconfigurable Computing and System-on-Chip, analyzes background of Variable Valve Actuation System.Then mothed of designing Soc based on component level reconfigurable computing is researched. The results show that this design methodology has more advantage in reduction design complexity and increasing flexibility. So application is realized on Altera's Nios SoPC system.SoPC(System on Programmable Chip) is SoC based on programmable logic device.The Nios embedded processor is a softcore 16/32 bits RISC CPU optimized for Altera programmable logic devices. The Nios based hardware/software codesign and IP reuse under SoPC are concerned through an implementation of Electromagnetic Valve Actuation. Since self-designed IP cores are needed in many situations, this paper also studies the IP core design method and workflow for Nios system. At same time, two User-defined logices are constructed using Verilog Hardware Description Language.This two User-defined logices are used to implement a hash search function and control electromagnetic valve. Subsequently, the hardware design of application system is implemented. Then according to the functional partition of software/hardware mentioned before, the design process of software is given and Co-design is completed.Finally, a test platform is built to test the prototype system in terms of remote control and hardware reconfiguration. Also the two User-defined logic are simulated.
