Clinical Observation On The Treatment Of Postoperative Anemia Treated By Invigorating Spleen And Blood

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of the use of YizhongShengxue capsule, which is based on the principle of JianpiShengxue, in the treatment of postoperative gastric cancer related anemia, by this randomized controlled trial.Method:We got a total of 68 eligible patients from the project of "Research of the clinical efficacy of TCM on treating anemia caused by gastric cancer", and this project is a multicenter, randomized trial.20 patients are in the negative control group, and 48 patients are in the experimental group (with YizhongShengxue capsule). Both of the 2 groups received the same basic treatment of western medicine.The experimental group received YizhongShengxue capsule at the dosage of 3 capsules,3 times daily for 5 weeks continuously (35 days). The negative control group received only the basic treatment of western medicine. The observation indexes included the peripheral blood examination (RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, RDW), the TCM syndrome, the quality of life (KPS score). The clinical efficacy of YizhongShengxue capsule was evaluated after the treatment of 5 weeks.Results:①The main observation indexes in the peripheral blood examination (RBC,HGB, HCT,MCV, RDW):There was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05) of RBC, HCT, MCV and RDW in 2 groups before the treatment. There was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05) in the negative control group before and after the treatment. There was an improvement in the peripheral blood examination (HGB, HCT, MCV) for the experimental group after the treatment. The D-value of MCV for the two groups has statistically significant difference (P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference of effect distribution between the 2 groups after the treatment (P<0.05).②The TCM syndrome:Palpitation has unequal distribution before the treatment, so the 2 groups have no comparability (P<0.05).The other TCM indexes of both groups have equal distribution (P>0.05). There was an improvement of the fatigue and the TCM syndrome overall score in the negative control group after the treatment (P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the tongue picture of the experimental group (P>0.05). But the others and TCM syndrome overall score had improved after the treatment in the experimental group (P<0.05). The comparison of the thin body between the 2 groups has shown a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). There was a higher increment on the sallow facial complexion, lost of appetite, thin body and the TCM syndrome overall score of the experimental group than that of the negative control group after the treatment (P<0.05).The therapeutic effect of TCM syndrome:The efficiency of the 2 groups are as follow:the experimental group 64.6%, the negative control group 30.0%. The comparison of the efficiency between the 2 groups has shown statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Meanwhile, the efficiency of the sallow facial complexion, vertigo, thin body was better than those of the negative control group (P<0.05). It showed a statistically significant difference on the therapeutic effect distribution of sallow facial complexion and thin body(P<0.05).③The quality of life:The therapeutic effect distribution of life quality between the 2 groups showed a statistically significant difference after the treatment.Conclusion:Based on the principle of JianpiShengxue, YizhongShengxue capsule can improve the HGB, HCT and MCV of the postoperative gastric cancer related anemia. It can also alleviate the weakness of stomach and spleen system, the deficiency in Qi and Blood syndrome, which is composed of sallow facial complexion, lost of appetite, vertigo, and thin body. It also shows a significant effect on improving the patient’s quality of life.
