Decorative painting is one of the fundamental courses in the curriculum of artdesign major. Since the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning ofthe twentieth century, western modernism painting has begun to explore thechange of painting form from concrete to abstract. At the same time, paintingrealistic function was weakened gradually and the artist’s subjective emotionand the expression of vision forms were emphasized. Decorative Painting hasits unique form of language. A romantic and symbolic aesthetic image werecreated through its simple style, reconstructed image, imagined content,illusory space, and a variety of materials. The cultural spirit of decoration isunder the process of transformation from the cultural decoration to thecultural design in quality. At present time, the teaching performance onDecoration Painting is in a too stylized mode, follows the same pattern ofteaching design. Under the background of the unprecedented freedom on theartistic form of expression, the unique fragrance of Chinese DecorativePainting in the art garden will rely on the continuous learning about theadvanced factor from foreign art form, and the integration with the essence ofnational culture. Only in this way, decorative art can show the strong vitality,and constantly enrich our spiritual life.
