| Erlitou site is the site of China’s first capital, discovered by Mr. Xu Xusheng in1959when he found the site of Xia dynasty. In the beginning of the last century,60years, archaeologists excavated this site, it has been some decades as of today. Manyrelics were discovered here, the striking is dragon-shaped objects because of itsuniqueness. Foothold of this paper is to explain the dragon-shaped objects by historyknowledge.This paper collected22dragon-shaped objects, including an unpublished smallpottery tripod with sun pattern. These artifacts have shown a higher resistance. Frommany perspectives such as unearthed time, excavated area, unearthed units and otherfactors point. On the basis of previous studies on the Erlitou dragon-shaped device onthe inside, using knowledge of history, archeology, ethnology and other aspects,author research the Erlitou dragon culture comprehensively.The relationship between the Erlitou capital and the Xia culture has always beencontroversial. Author thinks that it is the late capital site of Xia and has a closeconnection with the royal family Xiahoushi. Xia Yu’s totem was the dragon, thendragon image changed two times. One was to be Xia clan’s totem, one was to be theprotector of Yaoshunyu alliance. From the Xia Dynasty establishment dragon totemadored more widely and became a kind of primitive religions. At that time, sacrificewas very important. As the clan totem, dragon was a symbol of the Xia. Xiahoushiruled people in mental through constructing dragon culture. Dragon totem had beenconsiderable development then, became the thunder and lightning god, the agriculturegod, the rain god, the water god, the land god and so on. It is an important god in ouragricultural production and life in China. Dragon had become the representative of theimperial power in the feudal society because of its legitimacy and legitimacy. |
