Marx 's Leisure Thought And Its Contemporary Significance

Leisure is a unique way of human life; leisure is a kind of new social and cultural phenomenon;leisure is the power source for the development of society indirectly; leisure is the measurementof human social development and an important yardstick of social economic and culturalprogress. Leisure has become the important characteristic of times development, and is theinevitable outcome of the social political economic and cultural development. Leisure has animportant and far-reaching effect on various aspects, such as people’s all-round development, thenational ascension of comprehensive quality, the development of social economy, social cultureand so on. At present, with the rapid development of economic society, national comprehensivestrength enhanced obviously, and people’s living standard unceasing enhancement, our countryenters a new era of national public leisure.From the perspective of Marxist philosophy, this paper applies the idea of Marxist historicalmaterialism, discussing and analyzing Marx’s leisure and leisure by humanism connotation. Thenit puts forward the leisure is a state of survival after people meet their most basic materialproduction and living needs. The meaning and value of leisure is that it provides the necessitiesfor human’s full scale development, the realization of self-worth and social civilization progress.On the basis of generalization of Marx’s leisure idea and combination with the use of Marxistleisure ideology in contemporary China and development, we conclude that leisure has become anew form to promote individual all-round development, and has penetrated into China’s political,economic, cultural and social fields. Leisure has much theoretical and practical significance invarious fields. Firstly, it can satisfy the people’s growing recreational consumption demand.Secondly, it can expand domestic demand and stimulate consumption and accelerate thetransformation of economic development patterns. Meanwhile, it also promotes industrialstructure adjustment and the prosperous development of modern service industry. Lastly, itimproves the grade and the connotation of the city and innovation of modern way of life as wellas the construction of economic and cultural power.This article altogether is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, the presentation ofMarx’s leisure idea is mainly by the theory of Marx’s leisure thoughts origin, realistic foundationand development course to draw out topic. The second chapter mainly talks about the basiccontent and main features of the leisure; The basic content of Marx’s leisure idea is told fromfour aspects: Marx’s theory of the leisure concept, Marx’s free time, Marx’s labor theory ofleisure and leisure connotation in Marx’s thought on man’s all-round development. In the thirdchapter, the application and development of Marxist leisure ideology in contemporary Chinamainly include the followings: Marx’s leisure idea in the inheritance and development ofcontemporary China, the contemporary Chinese social situation, the necessity and the possibility of Marxist leisure ideology, Marx’s leisure idea in the contemporary China’s development presentsituation analysis, the use of Marxist leisure ideology in contemporary China and thedevelopment of the existing problems and countermeasures. The fourth chapter talks about thecontemporary significance of Marx’s leisure idea mainly from two aspects---theoretical andpractical significance, and then explains Marx’s leisure idea in the academic value and importantinfluence in the development of contemporary China.
