Exploration And Research On The Design Of Mascot In Domestic Games

With the larger sports events in the domestic and overseas held in success for years. Mascot has also gradually attracted the attention of people as the image spokesperson of sport. From The Olympic Games which is the highest level of the world sports, to the city sport games of one region, all of them have openly solicited mascots that can represent the characteristics of the games. Game mascot can not only promote the spirit of sport, or spread the regional culture characteristics, but also can bring considerable economic benefits providing abundant economic foundation by its affiliate products.Domestic game mascot design started in1980s, later than the International game mascot beginning in1960s, but it has been moving towards mature stage slowly now, and has been formed a set of intrinsic mode of development. All kinds of sports hope that mascots will promote the conduct of sporting event. In the environment of growing demand and low requirement of design, game mascots become more and more miscellaneous, many have the same image or same name, few of them can be called outstanding works. Especially those works that are lack of artistry, normalization and integrity, will leave negative influence on production and commerce exploitation. This dissertation will introduce both the present situation and development situation of domestic game mascots based on artistic designing in various aspects, and analysis the factors affecting game mascot design. Besides, we will explore a new road of innovation and breakthrough via analyzing the problems of the past from theme positioning, design technique, naming and route of transmission.
