Research On Practical Style In Tang And Song

After the discovery of Dunhuang Shu-yi, owing to the systematic organization and deep study thereon by generations of scholars, a great progress on academic Shu-yi research, especially on Dunhuang Shu-yi, has already been made, which exhibits abundant cultural connotations and reveals the value on sociology, culturology, linguistics, philology, etc. However, compared with the above achievements, current research on practical styles of the Shu-yi during the Tang and Song Dynasties from the perspective of Application Stylistics is not deep enough and we still need to find its value on stylistics.The thesis starts with three types of practical styles in Tang-and-Song Shu-yi, which can be divided into official documents for the government and personal corresponce for folk, so that the relative practical styles in Tang-and-Song Shu-yi are entirely presented. Then initiating by the text contents and combining with specific formalities and model essays, the thesis analyzes deeply the structure and language features thereof. Next, the thesis emphasizes on some representative practical styles and researches on different styles, different branches of the same style, and the same practical style during different historical periods. As to official documents thereof, it investigates mainly the evolution of the "Memorial" style and the divergence of "Suit" style; as to personal corresponce, it analyses, in detail, the contemporaneity of the "Letter’style in the book Friends Book Miriam and the space-time compossibility between the "Letter" styles for family members and literati family letters. Finally, the thesis concludes the characteristics and trend of the evolution of the practical styles in Tang-and-Song Shu-yi so as to deepen the recognition of the two properties thereof as "a literal tool for applying in practice" and "a thought tool for strengthening etiquette education"...
