| Currently academic achievements on Chinese compound words are very rich, but there are few studies involving the presentation of semantic elements. This paper selects Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of the semantic elements as the object to provide some reference for the research of formation of Chinese compounds. The article is divided into five parts. The introduction indicates the research object-Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of semantic elements; methods of the study including synchronic study, diachronic study and mathematical statistics and case analysis; research objects from Modern Chinese Dictionary"(6th edition); linguistic datum based on CCL corpus and electronic corpus of Complete Library in the Four Branches of Literature.Chapter One determines a definition-Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of semantic elements are those formed by presenting semantic elements to designate human organs. And the chapter attempts to semantically and grammatically discuss the characters of this kind of compounds:semantically, Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of semantic elements share the similar meaning with their original monosyllabic words, moreover the words can explain clearer by way of presenting the semantic elements. Grammatically, they are all endocentric nouns consisting of a modifier and the modified element it modified, the relationship between the morphemes are mostly "nominal morpheme+nominal morpheme=noun", that is to say the Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of semantic elements have a relatively stable structure and part-of-speech.With the help of CCL and the linguistic datum collected, Chapter Two focuses on the diachronic study. It demonstrates the development of Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of semantic elements to deepen the understanding of this kind of compound words.Based on the above research, Chapter Three firstly summarizes the evolution characteristics of Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of semantic elements-gradual change and coexistence. Gradual change refers to the long period of formation, coexistence means the compound nouns and monosyllabic nouns co-exist in the language. Secondly, the chapter reveals reason of development of Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of semantic elements. The bisyllablization of vocabulary and existing linguistic materials are inherent driving forces, requirements for accurate expressionã€development of cognitive thinking ways and the traditional aesthetic notions that Chinese are fond of double accelerate the development. The last part summarizes the whole article, draws two conclusions:presentation of semantic elements is of great research value; Human Organs compound nouns featuring presentation of semantic elements have special features and unique evolutional rules. As lack of linguistic datum and insufficient of relative research academics, the article is not very persuasive and needs further efforts to complete. |
