The idioms of human five sense organs refer to the idioms that contains morpheme of human five sense organs literally or that has no this kind of morpheme but describes the condition of human five sense organs. This article takes Zhongguo Chengyu Da Cidian(Cihai Ban) as its research range, and from it we collect594idioms of human five sense organs. And then we investigate all of them from four aspects, namely, the source and evolution, the types, the rhetoric skills, and the way of metaphor and metonymy. This study demonstrates that the idioms of human five sense organs have its own characteristics except for the common character of idioms. Firstly, in its evolution, the structure of the idioms of human five sense organs undergoes the largest change. Secondly, most of the idioms of human five sense organs are in the subject-predicate structure, which has much to do with the initiative of human five sense organs. Thirdly, the most often used rhetoric skills are analogy and metaphor. Fourthly, the collocation among human five sense organs or that between the organs and other human body parts is a natural metaphor source, therefore, the idioms of human five sense organs can easily reflect the target domain, or the abstract concept. The last part of this article gives some suggestions to the teaching of the idioms of human five sense organs in the area of the Chinese-Teaching as A Foreign Language. That is, in the semantic teaching, we should interpret the literal meaning of the individual words, arouse students’ association, and explain the story behind the idioms. In the grammar teaching, we need analysis, induction and summarization.
