The id ioms of body organs in this thes is belong to generalized concept,which include the words concerning body,fixed word-combinations and fixed sentences.The fixed word-combinations include compound words,phrases and idioms.The fixed sentences include proverbs,maxims,admonitions,wittic isms.This dissertation consists of introduction,chapter one,chapter two,chapter three,conclusion,references and appendix.The introduction presents the definition of Mongolian id ioms of body organs,research situation,research significance,research methods,research aims,the innovation of the thesis and the source of the corpus.Chapter one introduces the origin,development and theoretical methods of cognitive linguistics,accounts for the significance of researching the id ioms of body organs from the aspect of cognitive linguistics.Chapter two divides the idioms of body organs into three parts,suc h as the id ioms of head organs,the id ioms of body organs and the idioms of visceral organs.This chapter studies the idioms of body organs with the metaphorical and metonymical methods of cognitive linguistics.Chapter three researches the cultural connotation of the Mongolian id ioms of body organs.The thesis tries to account for the cultural meaning in Mongolian idioms of body organs from the aspects of material culture and sipiritual culture.The meaning of material culture penetrates into house culture,nomad ic culture,costume culture and hunting culture.The meaning of spiritual culture is expressed in moral culture,values,view of life,belief,worship,custom,symbolism and sensorium.The conclusion summarizes the cognitive and cultural researches on Mongolian idioms of body organs.
