No matter which country or nation, idiom exists as a special kind of language form. Idioms are the essence of language and the crystallization of human wisdom. It forms a kind of new formation for the human language. So the research has the important meaning to study idiom.There is a special group in the complex idioms classification. It is the idioms of human body organs. At he same time it plays a important role in expressing human feeling and guiding people how to behave in the words and deeds. Research on the Chinese-English body idioms and their similarities and differences, not only for the study of Chinese-English idiom has a certain theoretical significance, but also in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language has practical value.The thesis is divided into six chapters.The chapter one is an introduction. It introduces the research purpose and the topic basis, research contents and research methods and research significance.The chapter two is the definitions of the idioms and the origins of Chinese and English body organs idioms.The chapter three is analyzing the body idioms between English and Chinese from the view of expression.The chapter four illustrates the emotions conveyed by idioms along with a brief analysis of the differences between English and Chinese.The chapter five is illustrates the body idioms between English and Chinese from the view of rhetoric.The chapter six summarizes the whole thesis by reinforcing the significance of the study of body idioms and gives some tentative suggestions to the Chinese learners.
